Take a look at all the benefits we offer owners of bed and breakfasts.

five

things you must consider when taking out Bed and Breakfast Insurance

Who needs Bed and Breakfasts Insurance?

Anyone who opens their doors to the general public or holiday makers exposes themselves to potential theft or liability claims.  Bed and Breakfasts especially have unique exposures in protecting their own assets, the assets of their guests, as well as making sure that any potential liability claims are covered.

Why should you take out Bed and Breakfasts Insurance?

As soon as guests arrive on your property, you are responsible for their well being and their belongings. With increased media coverage, amplified consumer protection acts and greater access to attorneys, guests are increasingly seeking to blame and hold accountable the hospitality providers.

Apart from looking after guests and their belongings, Bed & Breakfast owners also have a unique risk with regards to their own assets.  Personal insurance policies will only cover theft of contents if there is forcible or violent entry.  As Bed & Breakfasts constantly allow strangers on to their premises, most often theft claims occur without forcible entry.  We understand this unique situation and therefore do not restrict theft claims in this way.

Do not insure your Bed & Breakfast on a conventional personal policy.  You will find that most of your losses will not be covered.  Make sure that you take out insurance especially designed for Bed & Breakfasts as only these types of policies will cater for the unique exposures that Bed & Breakfasts face.

How much does Bed and Breakfasts Insurance cost?

We have a large book of clients with many different insurance companies, which enables us to find the most beneficial policy with the cheapest premiums for your business. We understand that every business has different needs & we cater for the individual situation.

Typical Claims incurred on Bed and Breakfasts Insurance Policies

Typical claims we have with Bed & Breakfasts include theft, bilking (guests leaving without paying), business interruption (when your premises is not fit for guests) and power surges / lightning damage.  By far, the most expensive claims are when our clients are held liable for injuries to their guests or damages to the guests’ property.

What other insurance should be considered along with Bed and Breakfasts Insurance

Most Bed and Breakfasts are run from home, so instead of having two separate policies, rather add your vehicles, assets and other  personal items to the same policy.   Call us for advice.
